I am trying to learn how to learn how to do tarot card readings with regular playing cards, but every website I have gone to so far have not said what the inverted meanings of all the cards are. I know it would be a lot easier to just go out and buy a regular deck of tarot cards, but my parents refuse to allow me to get them. Help please?

If you lightly mark the bottom of the cards face with a marker, you'll know if its reversed by how it falls in your spread. Markings on top would be reversed.

Provided you have the basics, any Tarot site can help you understand the definitions.

Spades = Swords
Hearts = Cups
Clubs = Wands
Diamonds = Pentacles

But remember, you need to add your Court cards and Major Arcana. You can do this by simply getting another deck of playing cards! Write in the name of the Court Cards or Major Arcana. Traditional Tarot has 16 court cards and 22 Major Arcana. This sounds like a neat project actually! Shows devotion to the craft of reading well and this is always a pleasure to see!

You may find numerology helpful as well for card divination.

I suppose the death card would be one of them… Maybe the fool.

I'd prefer major arcana cards, but the suit of swords would work too, being that swords can appear rather… likely to impale you.
Oh, I know that.

I want cards that sound like they have intimidating names. E.G death.

I know they're harmless. I have to make a mini-movie for a class I'm taking, I want to lay down 3 cards or whatever, have them look frightening to mislead the viewer, before it's revealed they aren't negative in anyway. You understand?

Nothing about the Tarot is bad.

What is seen as positive/beneficial or negative/harmful is down to a mix of the question/layout/other cards/position cards are in. & of course the reader's interpretation of the cards.

Death is a card of transition, so what the transition is & how it is received by the individual will determine what type it is, the Fool is new beginnings, being brave, jumping in.

All 78 cards are positive.

I was thinking about tarot readings, and how sometimes they are wrong. But assuming the reading is correct and it predicts bad things or failure happening to you. Is it possible for you to do things differently and change your life path? Because now you know that what you are focusing on could be a failure so you do things differently in order to ensure success? And after a longer period you take another reading, will it show different or will it be the same? I mean, the cards or your fate can’t be fixed, unchangeable, can they?

I have been reading and teaching tarot professionally for many years. I tell my querents and students that fortune telling is only about 1% of a good reading.

If you are getting and receiving tarot readings that are all about predicting the future then the tarot is not being fully actualized. The future changes in every moment and is never for certain.

When I give a reading I clarify the past and the surrounding atmosphere of the present to help bring clarity. A good reading should bring understanding of contributing factors and making better choices. I will usually sum up with where the present path is leading and possible results.

The reader has a huge responsibility in that words are very powerful. A well educated tarot reader fully understands this. The power of suggestion is alive and well…as your question clearly states.

I would like to know how to time events while reading the tarot cards. And I would also like some advise when reading the court cards or any other kinda of useful advise for becoming an expert reader.

the first part is practice and lots of it as with time the ability to see repeated outcomes becomes second nature and with experience you can see the combination of the cards better (most people see each card seperatly and therefor the changed meaning resulting from the specific set being laid out is lost)

second is to pratice watching people taking note of who they are and how their question reflects in the cards.

last is to know your self and your inner ability to find meaning in the question as tarot is mostly just an outward source of you putting forward your answer to their question. we have an ability to see the futures of others but need to be in tune with our inner selves to corretly do this.

Do you need to center and ground beforehand? Do you need candlelight?

You don't need to have candlelight but you do need to clear your head and think about whatever you're asking the cards.
Different people have different rituals and you don't really need to do anything, but I think the rituals are just ways for them to clear their minds.

I am now holding my shuffled tarot cards in my left hand…and with my right I am going to draw three cards at random from the middle. If you were here, you could tell me when to stop as I "riffle".

The first card drawn, is The Lovers, representing the current status. You are faced with a choice of partners: someone wealthy, someone beautiful, and someone with wisdom.

Second card: Five of swords, indicating a fickle personality, often finding yourself faced with choices. You like to say "pick your poison" lol, just kidding. Choices in your past have led you on a path, almost a mission, as if these indecisive moments were as substantial as life and death.
